Public Health In Action: E. coli sampling

The Recreational Water Safety Team seasonally monitors 3 designated swim beaches for E. coli: Battle Ground Lake, Klineline Pond, and Vancouver Lake. A total of 17 water samples are collected bi-weekly from the 3 beaches and sent to a local lab for E. coli testing, sometimes resulting in a beach advisory when levels are above state threshold. The team often has a college intern such as Corbin, pictured above, to assist with the sampling efforts in the summer. Learn more about the program here.
